My photo essay is based on the subject of music. During April Vacation I went to a rock concert for the band Alter Bridge at the Royale in Boston, Massachusetts. The subject is the band members of Alter Bridge. The only two that I focused on is the singer, Myles Kennedy, and the guitarist, Mark Tremonti. The photographs that I took were all action shots of them performing. This an extremely important topic to me for a few reasons. The privilege I had to meet Myles Kennedy, who is my favorite singer last summer gave me a connection when I was able to photograph him and choose this as the subject of my photo essay. I am very connected to music and the lyrics that this band writes connects to my life in so many ways. The concept I strive to show is the talented people who are enjoying what they are good at. These two people seem very into their performance. The images show different parts of the show. In some of these pictures the singer seems very concentrated and emotional. This shows that he could be playing a song that really affects him and that explains parts of his life. In other pictures the guitarist and singer are smiling, so it shows hey are having a great time and are most likely playing an upbeat song. Also the lighting suggests the mood of the song. The red light could indicate a song that is more upbeat while blue lighting could portray the song as being very slow and emotional. All of my photos are in color to show the mood of the concert. The order of the photos are in the order of the beginning of the concert all the way to the end. These picture were taken from the fourth row and more on the right side of the stage. This sometimes made it slightly difficult to capture the entire body of the singer and guitarist. The lighting is very bright on the stag even though the lights were out on the audience.
