For my family portraits I set up a self timer. I photographed with the people who mean the most to me. One of these people is my Mom and the other is my boyfriend Bryan. I tried my best to capture their personalities in my photographs. When I look at the photo of my Mom and I, what I see is the loving, supportive side to her just by the smile on her face. I had the photo taken vertically because the two of us were all dressed up for a party. The background shows the dead leaves on the ground with the bare trees towards the back, so you can indicate that it is winter. What I find successful about my image is it shows that my Mom and I get along well and that we are close. Unfortunately not all kids have the opportunity to have that relationship with their Mom.
For my photo with Bryan I also tried to show his personality. He is holding me really tight and his head tilted and resting on mine. He has a smile on his face and so do I. Based on the way he is hugging me it shows love and affection. It shows that he is a gentle person based on his subtle expression. The two of us have gotten each other through a lot and these are things some people may not understand. Even though he is my boyfriend, we consider each other best friends also because we have many huge connections. He is considered family to my family and I am considered family to his. For this photo we had someone take it for us. We stand out in the picture because the room we are in is dimmed. The picture was also taken at a vertical angle.
For my last photograph I have a picture of me and my best friend Riley. The two of us may fight like sisters, but in the end we both remain best friends. In the picture we are in her room and did our makeup. The lighting in the picture doesn't result in any blur. I photoshopped this picture to make it black and white simply for the reason that the regular lighting made our faces appear too bright. We are both in the center of the photo. We are acting silly, so the photo indicates that we are comfortable being ourselves around each other. It also shows that we like to laugh. I consider her family because the two of us have always been there for each other even though we have only been friends for about a year.
